Fellow hockey podcaster Steve Dangle joins the show to discuss how he’s approaching this Leafs season as a long-time fan of the team, and what their best case scenario is for the rest of the year.
We also discuss the pair of suspension-worthy hits from this past weekend’s games, Sidney Crosby’s importance to the NHL, and the KHL as an alternative professional league.

I also hope that we see more exchanges between the KHL and NHL, but Russia is already practicing a “cut off the nose to spite the face” policy when it comes to economic embargos and soccer. The Russian Premier League implemented restrictions on foreign players starting this season, and that can only hurt their European standing later on, because there aren’t a whole lot of must-have players from that country, and their best side (Zenit St. Petersburg) owes its success to the Brazilian Hulk (who might get out as soon as he can because of fan racism) and the Portuguese Danny.
Seeing as former NHL great and current Putin confidante Slava Fetisov already suggested restricting Russian players from going abroad until age 27, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Russia cutting off the talent pipeline in hockey as well. That’s a shame, because they produce some great talent.
